| BIO
Ceramic sculptor, Ilena Finocchi, creates personal, metaphorical art that captures moments in time that span between an imaginative childhood and the confinements of adulthood. After having worked as a successful Graphic Designer and Illustrator for 14 years, it was Ilena's love of sculpture that led her back to school to pursue fine art full time. She completed her Masters of Fine Arts degree from the School for American Crafts at Rochester Institute of Technology in 2005. Ilena's work has garnered the attention of national galleries and museums, from the Museum of Art and Design in New York, to the Lincoln Arts Center in California. Her artwork has been published in several books and international magazines and is part of permanent collections, both public and private across the country. In the summer of 2006, Ilena was a resident at the prestigious Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts in Helena, Montana. In November 2007, Ilena will be part of SOFA Chicago, exhibiting her translucent lighted porcelain pieces and will be represented by the Ferrin Galley. Currently Ilena is back in Ohio, working in her studio focusing on developing a new series of sculptures and completing her latest installation that incorporates hundreds of electrically lit, translucent porcelain bottles.
