Working in 3D whether it be in clay, metal, resin or found materials, the physicality of those objects live and interact in our 3D world. I took a jewelry making class in college and found I was quite excited to be working with metal as much as I liked the idea of wearing sculpture. I took a ceramics class in college and my whole world opened up to any idea I was willing to build. Lots of those early influences of my family making things by hand influenced me as an artist. Hand made objects carry with them the energy of the maker. If the work is well done, the intent of the artist shines through and may be one of the most wonderful experiences of being human. I realized after years of working on a computer that I will always prefer making things by hand because it truthfully finds beauty in the patina.
