Being an artist is more than just a job to me; it's a creative lifestyle. With over 30 years of experience, I have worked professionally as a designer, illustrator, sculptor, maker, educator, public artist, and  filmmaker.

Public Art

My public artwork ranges from tile murals, painted murals and interactive animation. A recipient of Stockton Arts Commission grant and recently completed a ground mural in front of the CA Natural Resources Building.

Independent Film/Animation

Self-created and produced my first award winning film, "Creatures in My House," and have been adding virtual animation to public art.

Surface Designer

While working on the set design for my first film I fell back in love with designing patterns. Stay tuned for my new collection being launched in the next months.

Art/Sculpture

Since I was a little kid playing in the mud I have been fascinated in creating things out of basic materials.

the Work of ART

Renowned for her diverse artistic talents, Ilena's sculptures have garnered national acclaim, with exhibitions at prestigious events such as Art Basil Miami, SoFA Chicago, and the Museum of Art & Design in New York. As an artist-in-residence at the Archie Bray Foundation in Montana and the McKnight Residency in Minnesota, she has delved into public art, securing a grant for a vibrant community mural and workshop series. Notably, she recently unveiled a stunning ground mural outside the CA Natural Resources Building in Sacramento. Ilena holds a BFA in fine arts from Youngstown State University, an MFA in ceramic sculpture from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and is a self-taught animator with over a decade of professional teaching experience.
